Most of these recipes are pretty true to their Mexican roots, using classic Mexican chiles, herbs and seasonings matched with a wide variety of protein, vegetable and grain combinations. Sadly, there are no links to the recipes, so you'll want to bookmark any you find interesting, but that's a minor quibble in a 99 cent book. Do your tastebuds a favor and where feta is indicated use Cotija cheese instead, except for the Greek tacos, of course. Where mayo or sour cream is used, buy some Mexican Crema. Both of these items are inexpensive and can normally be found right next to the Queso Fresco in the dairy section at Walmart. And don't waste your money on ready-made hard shells. They're an insult to a good taco. Their inclusion in the cover art made me cringe and I almost passed on the book despite it's low price. I'm glad I didn't.
Purchased this book for a conversation piece for my coffee table. Found the recipes worth trying and authentic Mexican style cooking like my grandmother used to make. I think too love the book cover as it draws instant and immediate attention and each and everyone of my guest can't resist picking the book up and looking through it and making comments. Works so well I am surprised how many people have copied recipes for their own use.. A big cook book it is not...but a cook book that draws immediate attention it is. Thanks...excellent conversation starter that puts people at ease.
These are nice recipes. I have really enjoyed them. Some are kind of different. You can’t go wrong with this book.
