cute story and my kids like the pictures, but these are not first readers. Beginning readers should not have contractions in them. doesn't** can't** among many others.These books are not edited for the advertised reading level.
Well written and to the point.it was a story that would hold a child's attention. I liked the story the way it ended.

This is a cute little easy reader and my 4 year old enjoys it. I bought it because I like Rea Drummond as a cook. My son enjoys the story of Charlie working on the each and loves when he gets stuck in the mud.
My 8 yr old and 4 yr old enjoy these books very much. Ree Drummond is talented beyond measure. Aside from her cooking career, she is an excellent children's writer. My boys were both deeply saddened by the loss of the real-life Charlie, but, through these books, his legacy lives on.
I love these books written by the Pioneer Woman. Very nice stories for children. Plus an "I Can Read" book so that was an extra plus for me. With the free shipping via Amazon Prime, the total cost was fantastic for my budget!
My daughter can't get enough of Charlie and all he gets into. She has a bunch of these Charlie books and we have never been disappointed!
