Come meet Kylie and Jackson. Both alphas in their own right, one not understanding the pull to the other. Kylie is human and has had a crush on a man she's never met since she was 16. Now she works for him and is drawn to him like no other. Jackson is a werewolf and a lone wolf alpha. He's drawn to Kylie and knows she is his mate but since she's human he can't mate her or she may die. Both are stubborn, both are strong characters. Both also have a tragic past that they need to fight through.I liked this book. Kylie and Jackson were both great characters, I loved seeing the fight in both of them as they try, for different reasons, to stay away from each other. The hacker and the CEO was a different storyline for me, I definitely enjoyed the new. The pacing was a bit off, slow in some places and too fast in others, but didn't take away from the story. The sex was hot, Jackson is certainly swoon worthy. He makes you like him even through his dumb man mistakes!I'd definitely recommend this book to PNR lovers, there's romance, mystery, sex, and a few twists I didn't see coming.
I'm a huge fan of Lee Savino's Berserker series and I really enjoy Renee Rose's books, so getting a book written by both of them was a no-brainer. And it did not disappoint!Kylie starts the story by getting stuck in an elevator during a job interview. Luckily, she's stuck with the CEO, Jackson, whose wolf decides she is his mate. Jackson tries to fight his wolf's desires because Kylie is human, and giving her a claiming mark might kill her. As a teen, Kylie was a hacker and thief known as Catgirl, the only person ever to hack Jackson's code. When he finds out, Jackson decides to punish her for her illegal activities. Then it all goes caput when Kylie is blackmailed into hacking Jackson's company again. Can Jackson trust that Kylie is not working with the supposed blackmailers? Can Kylie trust that Jackson won't turn her in? And can she deal with the revelation that Jackson is a wolf-shifter?All of the best books have layers of plot and this one has a bunch. There's Kylie's history, Jackson's history, the hacking history, Meme's history (and secrets), Sam's history, and of course, the blackmail plot. These two talented authors weave the stories together and entwine them flawlessly. Kylie is fiesty and stubborn and completely capable of handling things herself, or so she thinks. Jackson is dominant and growly and a bit of a jackass but it's fun to watch Kylie wrap him up in knots. Yeah, I figured out who the mole was, but there were enough red-herrings to make me question my choice. And the surprise twists toward the end actually surprised me. That doesn't happen very often.The sex scenes are hot (duh!), the punishment scenes are really hot (double duh!), and the intricate plot is well-thought out and expertly crafted. Editing is excellent and I found no glaring mistakes or errors. Lee and Renee already have plans for a second book featuring Garrett, and I'm ready to one-click that one as soon as it's available. If you're looking for an intelligent, sexy read with a little kink, this is an excellent place to start. And do yourself a favor by checking out their other books. You'll be glad you did!
